To attract and encourage more outstanding international students to pursue degrees at Southern Medical University, and to offer rewards and financial support to those with excellent academic performance, our university provides new student scholarships for international students who meet the requirements.

1. Open Professionalism

The Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for New International Students of Southern Medical University is open to self-funded applicants of all majors.

Ii. Scholarship Standards

New doctoral students: The scholarship standard is 30,000 yuan per person per lump sum.

2. New master's degree students: The scholarship standard is 20,000 yuan per person per one-time.

3. Freshmen undergraduates: The scholarship standard is 10,000 yuan per person per one-time scholarship.

Iii. Application Requirements

1. Possessing foreign nationality, holding a valid foreign passport and meeting the relevant requirements for international students in China.

2. Age requirement:

Applicants for the doctoral program must be under 40 years old.

Applicants for master's programs must be under 35 years old.

3) Applicants for undergraduate courses must be under 30 years old.

3. Be friendly to China, in good health, abide by laws and regulations, diligent and eager to learn, have good conduct, and have no bad records or criminal records.

4. Excellent academic performance and a clear purpose for studying in China. Applicants for master's or doctoral programs should have a GPA of 3.0 or above in their previous academic stage, with no failed or retaken subjects. Applicants for undergraduate programs should have achieved a grade of 75% or above in all three years of high school, with no failed subjects.

5. Language Requirements:

For undergraduate programs taught in Chinese: A score of 180 or above in the new HSK Level 4 or an equivalent language proficiency certificate;

For the application of the Chinese-taught postgraduate program: A score of 180 or above in the new HSK Level 5 or an equivalent language proficiency certificate; Students whose highest academic degree is in a course taught in Chinese must submit a certificate of teaching in Chinese.

For applications to English-taught programs: Applicants from non-English speaking countries are required to provide proof of TOEFL IBT score of 68 or above, or IELTS score of 6.0 or above, or equivalent language proficiency. If the highest academic degree was obtained in an English-speaking country and the language of instruction was English, a certificate of English teaching must be submitted.

3 A recommendation letter from the principal of the high school where the student graduated and one teacher (with the recommender's personal signature, valid contact information and the school's official seal) must be submitted.

If this statement is not submitted, our school will assume that the applicant agrees to be converted to a self-funded international student.

V. Application Deadline

Before April 30, 2018. All application materials must be sent or delivered to the International Education College of Southern Medical University.

Vi. Evaluation Criteria

The school reviews the applicants' materials based on the admission criteria and the qualification conditions for scholarship students, and selects the best ones to draft the list of awardees.

Candidates for the Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in Guangdong must be recommended by our university and then reported to the Department of Education of Guangdong Province. The final list of awardees shall be subject to the list allocated to our university by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province after public announcement.

The recipients of this scholarship program are required to pay all the fees (including the application fee, tuition and accommodation fee) in accordance with the tuition standards for self-funded international students of Southern Medical University. The scholarship will be issued in a lump sum to the personal bank account provided by the recipient after the registration for admission as stipulated.
