To implement the "Study in China Program" issued by the Ministry of Education and the "Shanghai Medium and Long-Term Education Reform and Development Plan Outline (2010-2020)", to meet the demand for international talents in Shanghai's accelerated construction of a globally influential science and technology innovation center, to further promote international cooperation and exchanges in Shanghai's education, and to facilitate the development of foreign student education, To support outstanding students from all over the world to study and conduct research in Shanghai, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has specially established the "Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship for Foreign Students" (hereinafter referred to as the "Scholarship") for outstanding foreign students who come to study at our university. The regulations regarding the application targets, methods, procedures and conditions for Class A and Class B scholarships for higher education such as undergraduate preparatory courses, undergraduate, master's and doctoral programs offered by our university are as follows:

I. Recipients and Duration of Funding

(1) Outstanding students pursuing undergraduate studies, with a duration of 4 to 5 academic years (5 academic years for medical majors such as Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture and Massage, and 4 academic years for non-medical majors such as Chinese Materia Medica and Rehabilitation Therapy);

(2) Outstanding students pursuing a master's degree, with a duration of three academic years;

(3) Outstanding students pursuing a doctoral degree, with a duration of three academic years;

(4) Outstanding students who are accepting undergraduate preparatory studies for a period of one academic year.

Ii. Applicant Qualifications

(1) Requirements for the applicant's educational background and age

1. Applicants for a bachelor's degree must have a high school diploma or above and be no older than 25 years old in principle. Those pursuing a master's degree must have a university degree or above and be no older than 35 years old in principle. Those pursuing a doctoral degree must have a master's degree or above, possess a certain academic level, and in principle, be no older than 40 years old.

2 Applicants for the undergraduate preparatory course must have a high school diploma or above, meet the undergraduate admission requirements of our university, and generally be no older than 23 years old.

(II) Language proficiency requirements for applicants

Applicants must meet the language proficiency requirements for the application qualifications of each major in our school. Applicants for the undergraduate foundation course must reach the equivalent level of the new HSK Level 3.

(4) Applicants who have received rewards or financial support from the Chinese government or other organizations will no longer be eligible for the "Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students" of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Iii. Contents and Standards of Scholarship Support

Outstanding foreign students in higher education programs such as undergraduate preparatory courses, undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees will be funded in accordance with the "Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship Funding Standards for Foreign Students"

The content of Class A scholarship includes: tuition fees (excluding thesis defense fees); Basic accommodation (one bed in a double room) and comprehensive medical insurance fees are provided during the study period. Living expenses are issued monthly.

The B-class scholarship covers tuition fees (excluding thesis defense fees) and comprehensive medical insurance premiums.

Scholarship students receiving undergraduate preparatory education shall be funded in accordance with the standards of the first-class A award for undergraduate studies.

Iv. Scholarship Application Process

(1) Application Channels

Log in to the "Study in Shanghai" website (http://www.study-shanghai.org/index.asp) and complete the application process as required by the website.

(II) Application Time

The application period is generally from February to April each year.

(3) Application Materials (All application materials submitted by the applicant will not be returned.

1. Highest academic degree certificate and academic transcript; If the applicant is a current student, they must submit a "Pre-graduation Certificate" issued by their school at the same time.

2 Study or research plan in China (including personal statement; written in Chinese for Chinese-taught programs; written in English for English-taught programs; more than 1,000 words)

3 Recommendation letter;

4 The score of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) (not required for Chinese Americans).

V. Review and Determination

(1) The Working Group of the "Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students" of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine is responsible for reviewing the applicants' qualifications, application conditions and other materials. The results of the scholarship assessment will be announced on the school's website in due course.

(2) Applicants who are admitted to the "Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students" of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (hereinafter referred to as "Scholarship students") will be eligible for the scholarship to study at our university.

(3) Depending on the progress of the school's admission work, the "Admission Notice", "Scholarship Notice" and "Visa Application Form for Foreign Students to Study in China" (JW202 Form) will be sent to the applicant personally.

(4) Students who complete the undergraduate preparatory course and continue to pursue a bachelor's degree at the undergraduate level must be recommended by the Shanghai Preparatory College in the first academic year and be approved by the "Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship for Foreign Students" working group of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine before they can receive the scholarship.

Vi. Annual Review

Conduct a comprehensive review of the annual academic performance, learning attitude, attendance, behavioral conduct, rewards and punishments, etc. of various scholarship students, and report the situation to the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. Only those who pass the review will be eligible for the scholarship for the next academic year. Those who fail the review will have their scholarship eligibility suspended or revoked starting from the next academic year.

(1) For recipients of Class A and Class B scholarships pursuing master's and doctoral degrees, in the second year, their academic performance in the first academic year and their conduct at school will be mainly evaluated. In the third year, their mid-term assessment results in the second academic year and their performance at school will be mainly evaluated.

(2) For A and B category scholarship recipients pursuing a bachelor's degree, all courses taken in the academic year, except for the Chinese Language enhancement course and the Medical Humanities course (hereinafter referred to as "all courses"), must be passed, with an average credit grade point of no less than 2.8. Only those who pass the review are eligible to retain the scholarship for the next academic year.

(3) Scholarship recipients of Category A who are pursuing a bachelor's degree and have passed all the courses they have taken in the academic year, with an average credit grade point lower than 2.8 but not lower than 2.0, and have passed the review, will be eligible for the Category B scholarship in the next academic year. If the average credit grade point of the courses taken meets all the conditions for the A-class scholarship review in the next academic year, the qualification for the A-class Scholarship can be restored. If it does not meet all the conditions for the A-class scholarship review, the review conditions for the B-class Scholarship should be referred to.

(4) Any student who has any of the following situations will be immediately disqualified from the scholarship:

1. Having violated Chinese laws and regulations, school discipline and rules and regulations, and received administrative sanctions;

2 Failed in the assessment of the course being studied.

3 Unable to cooperate with the school to complete the annual scholarship review.

(5) The school will publicize the results of the scholarship review. Once the public announcement is passed, the review results will officially take effect.

Vii. Supplementary Provisions

This application method is interpreted by Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and shall come into effect as of the date of its release.
