Scholarship categories and application requirements

1. Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages   

Enrolled in September 2018, the funding period is two years.

Have a bachelor's degree. The score of the Chinese proficiency test reached 210 points in HSK (Level 5) and 60 points in HSKK (Intermediate). Those who can provide a work agreement or relevant proof from the institution where they plan to teach after graduation will be given priority.

2 Bachelor's Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages   

Enrolled in September 2018, the funding period is four years.

Have a high school diploma. The score of the Chinese proficiency test reached 210 points in HSK (Level 4) and 60 points in HSKK (Intermediate).

3 One-year trainee   

Enroll in September 2018, with a funding period of 11 months. International students in China will not be admitted.

3.1 Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language

The score of the Chinese proficiency test has reached 270 points in HSK (Level 3) and has an HSKK score.

3.2 Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy

The score of the Chinese proficiency test should reach 180 points in HSK (Level 4) and 60 points in HSKK (Intermediate).

3.3 Chinese Language Study

The score of the Chinese proficiency test reaches 180 points in HSK (Level 3).

4 One-semester trainee

For those who enrolled in September 2018 and March 2019, the funding period is five months. Those with X1 or X2 visas in their passports will not be admitted.

4.1 Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy  

The score of the Chinese proficiency test reaches 210 points in HSK (Level 3) and has an HSKK score.

4.2 Traditional Chinese Medicine and Tai Chi Culture

Have HSK scores.

5 Four-week trainee   

Enrollment in July or December 2018, with a funding period of 4 weeks. Those with X1 or X2 visas in their passports will not be admitted.

5.1 Traditional Chinese Medicine and Tai Chi Culture

Have HSK scores.

5.2 Chinese Language + Chinese Family Experience

Have HSK scores. The Confucius Institute will organize groups to sign up and contact the receiving institutions in advance to determine the study plan in China. The plan will be submitted to the headquarters for approval in advance. Each group will consist of 10 to 15 people.

5.3 Confucius Institute Special Four-week Students

Have HSK scores. Registration is organized by Confucius Institutes in groups, with each group consisting of 10 to 15 people.

 

Scholarship content

The Confucius Institute Scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation fees, living expenses (except for four-week trainees) and comprehensive medical insurance.

1. The tuition fees are allocated by the receiving institutions for the cultivation and management of scholarship students, the organization of cultural activities, and the participation in Chinese language tests. The tuition fee does not include the cost of textbooks and tickets to tourist attractions.

2 Accommodation fees are managed and used by the receiving institution, which provides free dormitories for students, usually double rooms. Upon application by the scholarship student and approval by the receiving institution, if the student chooses to live off campus, the school will pay the accommodation fee on a monthly or quarterly basis, with a standard of 700 RMB per month.

3 Living expenses are issued monthly by the receiving institution. The standard for undergraduate students, one-year and one-semester visiting students is 2,500 RMB per month. The monthly salary for master's students majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages is 3,000 RMB.

Scholarship recipients must report to the receiving institution within the time specified in the admission notice; otherwise, their scholarship eligibility will be revoked. Those who register at the school by the 15th of the month (inclusive) will receive the full living expenses for that month. Those who register after the 15th will receive half a month's living allowance for the current month.

Scholarship students who leave China for more than 15 days due to personal reasons during their study period (excluding winter and summer vacations) will have their living expenses suspended during the period of absence from China.

Scholarship students who suspend their studies, withdraw from school or are subject to disciplinary action by the receiving institution for personal reasons will have their living expenses suspended from the date of suspension, withdrawal or receiving the notice of disciplinary action.

The living expenses for graduates will be issued until half a month after the graduation date determined by the school.

4 The comprehensive medical insurance premium shall be implemented in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education of China on international students coming to study in China and shall be purchased uniformly by the receiving institution. The standard for four-week trainees is 160 RMB per person, 400 RMB per person for one-semester trainees, and 800 RMB per person per year for those with more than one academic year.

 

Application time

1. April 20th (July enrollment).

2. June 1st (September enrollment).  

3. September 20th (for December intake).  

4. December 20th (Enrollment in March 2019).  

The Confucius Institute Headquarters conducts centralized reviews and selects the best for funding. The scholarship review work is completed two months before the start of the academic year, and the review results are announced.

 

Application method

1. Starting from March 1, 2018, applicants are required to log in to both our university website (application.php) and the Confucius Institute Scholarship website (http://cis.chinese.cn), register online, fill in the "Confucius institute scholarship application Form" and attach electronic scanned copies of relevant supporting documents. A registration fee of 800 yuan is required when signing up on our school's website.

2. Contact the recommending agency for online recommendation.

   The Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) entrusts Confucius Institutes (independently established Confucius Classrooms) in various countries and some Chinese language test centers (such as East China Normal University) as recommending institutions to select local applicants based on merit, review the application materials, and contact the receiving institutions to collect and transfer the admission materials of scholarship students.

3. The application materials will be reviewed by the receiving institution for admission qualifications (applicants for our school's academic programs need to undergo an interview), and the pre-admitted candidates will be submitted to the Confucius Institute Headquarters. It usually takes 20 working days.

4 The Confucius Institute Headquarters conducts a comprehensive review of those who meet the requirements and selects the best candidates for admission. The Confucius Institute Headquarters will complete the scholarship review two months before the students' enrollment.

5 After the receiving institution confirms the study abroad intention with the award-winning student, the "Admission Notice" and the "Visa Application Form for Foreign Students to Study in China" (JW202 Form) will be sent to the student. The student can print the award certificate online.

After registering for the student status within the prescribed time, one can enjoy the benefits of the Confucius Institute Scholarship.

Applications with incomplete materials or those that do not meet the admission requirements will not be accepted.

4. If the application materials are found to be false or not filled out and submitted by the applicant himself/herself, the application qualification will be cancelled once verified.

6 Students who fail to report on time, fail the physical examination upon admission, withdraw from school halfway, or take a leave of absence will have their scholarship eligibility revoked.

Regarding the winners of the Chinese Bridge Award

Those who have won the "Confucius Institute Scholarship Certificate"; in various Chinese Bridge competitions in 2018 should log in to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website and submit the application materials to the target receiving institutions with the scholarship certificate.
