To cultivate qualified Chinese language teachers, promote the international dissemination of the Chinese language and the spread of Chinese culture, the Headquarters of Confucius Institute/Office of Chinese Language International Promotion (hereinafter referred to as Hanban) has established the Confucius Institute Scholarship. Confucius Institutes, independently established Confucius Classrooms and some overseas Chinese language test centers (hereinafter referred to as the recommending institutions) are entrusted to fund outstanding students and in-service Chinese language teachers to study at Chinese universities (collectively referred to as the receiving institutions). According to the application regulations for the Confucius Institute Scholarship in 2018, the relevant matters concerning the application for the Confucius Institute Scholarship in 2018 to study at Chongqing University are hereby notified as follows.

I. Application Targets

1. Non-chinese nationals.

2 In good physical and mental health, with excellent character and academic performance.

3 Be committed to engaging in Chinese language education, teaching and the promotion of the Chinese language internationally.

4 The age range is 16 to 35 years old (calculated uniformly as of September 1, 2018). The age limit for in-service Chinese language teachers is relaxed to 45 years old, and applicants for undergraduate scholarships generally should not exceed 25 years old.

Ii. Scholarship Categories, Majors and Application Requirements

1. Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages

Enrolled in September 2018, the funding period is two years.

Have a bachelor's degree. The score of the Chinese proficiency test reached 210 points in HSK (Level 5) and 60 points in HSKK (Intermediate). Those who can provide a work agreement or relevant proof from the institution where they plan to teach after graduation will be given priority.

2 Bachelor's Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages

Enrolled in September 2018, the funding period is four years.

Have a high school diploma. The score of the Chinese proficiency test reached 210 points in HSK (Level 4) and 60 points in HSKK (Intermediate).

3 One-year trainee

Enroll in September 2018, with a funding period of 11 months. International students in China will not be admitted.

3.1 Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language

The score of the Chinese proficiency test has reached 270 points in HSK (Level 3) and has an HSKK score.

3.2 Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy

The score of the Chinese proficiency test should reach 180 points in HSK (Level 4) and 60 points in HSKK (Intermediate).

3.3 Chinese Language Study

The score of the Chinese proficiency test reaches 180 points in HSK (Level 3).

4 One-semester trainee

For those who enrolled in September 2018 and March 2019, the funding period is five months. Those with X1 or X2 visas in their passports will not be admitted.

Majors: Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy

The score of the Chinese proficiency test reaches 210 points in HSK (Level 3) and has an HSKK score.

5. Four-week students of Confucius Institute Special Program

Enrollment in December 2018, with a funding period of 4 weeks. Those with X1 or X2 visas in their passports will not be admitted. Have HSK scores. Registration is organized by Confucius Institutes in groups, with each group consisting of 10 to 15 people.

Iii. Admission Process

1. Applicants should log in to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website (http://cis.chinese.cn), select the recommending institution, choose chongqing university as the receiving institution, register online, fill in the Confucius institute scholarship Application Form and attach electronic scanned copies of relevant supporting documents.

2. The recommending institution to which the applicant belongs reviews the application materials and recommends those who meet the requirements.

3. Chongqing University reviews the admission qualifications, selects the best candidates for admission, and submits the pre-admitted candidates to the Confucius Institute Headquarters.

The Confucius Institute Headquarters will complete the scholarship review two months before the start of the academic year and announce the review results.

5 Scholarship recipients confirm with Chongqing University the procedures for studying in China and print the award certificates online. Register for school at the time specified in the admission notice of Chongqing University.

Iv. Application Deadline

June 20, 2018 (Enrollment in September 2018)

2. December 30, 2018 (Enrollment in March 2019)

V. Others

1. Degree students must participate in the annual review. For details, please refer to the "Annual Review Method for Confucius Institute Scholarships".

2 Students who fail to report on time, fail the physical examination upon admission, withdraw from school halfway, or take a leave of absence will have their scholarship eligibility revoked.
