I. Application Requirements and Admission Categories

The Confucius Institute Scholarship is open to non-Chinese nationals aged between 18 and 35 (calculated as of September 1, 2018) who are in good physical and mental health, have excellent academic performance and moral conduct, are dedicated to engaging in Chinese language teaching and the promotion of the Chinese language internationally. The age limit for in-service Chinese language teachers is relaxed to 45 years old. Applicants for undergraduate scholarships are generally no older than 25 years old.

1. Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages

Enrolled in September 2018. The funding period is two years. Applicants are required to have a bachelor's degree and achieve a score of 210 in HSK (Level 5) and 60 in HSKK (Intermediate). Those who can provide a work agreement or relevant proof from the institution where they plan to teach after graduation will be given priority.

2 Undergraduate program in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages

Enrolled in September 2018. The funding period is four years. Applicants must have a high school diploma and achieve a score of 210 in HSK (Level 4) and 60 in HSKK (Intermediate).

3 One-year trainee

Enrolled in September 2018. The funding period is 11 months. International students in China will not be admitted.

3.1 Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language

The score of the Chinese proficiency test reaches 270 points in HSK (Level 3) and 60 points in HSKK (Beginner Level).

3.2 Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy

The score of the Chinese proficiency test reaches 180 points in HSK (Level 4) and 60 points in HSKK (Beginner Level).

3.3 Chinese Language Study

The score of the Chinese proficiency test reaches 180 points in HSK (Level 3).

4 One-semester trainee

For those who enrolled in September 2018 and March 2019, the funding period is five months. Those with X1 or X2 visas in their passports will not be admitted. The score of the Chinese proficiency test reaches 210 points in HSK (Level 3) and has an HSKK score.

5 Four-week trainee

Enrollment in July or December 2018, with a funding period of 4 weeks. Those with X1 or X2 visas in their passports will not be admitted.

5.1 Chinese Language + Chinese Family Experience

Applicants must have HSK scores and a willingness to experience a family. Registration is organized by Confucius Institutes in groups, with each group consisting of 10 to 15 people.

5.2 Confucius Institute Special Four-week Students

Have HSK scores. Registration is organized by Confucius Institutes in groups, with each group consisting of 10 to 15 people.

6 Those who have won the "Confucius Institute Scholarship Certificate" in various Chinese Bridge competitions in 2018 should log in to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website and submit the application materials to the target receiving institutions with the scholarship certificate. Ii. Funding Content

The Confucius Institute Scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation fees, living expenses (except for four-week trainees) and comprehensive medical insurance.

1. Our school provides free dormitories for students, which are usually 2/3 rooms.

2 Living expenses are distributed monthly by our school. The standard for undergraduate students, one-year and one-semester research students is 2,500 RMB per month. The monthly salary for master's students majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages is 3,000 RMB.

3 The comprehensive medical insurance premium is implemented in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education of China on international students coming to study in China and is purchased uniformly by our university. The standard for four-week trainees is 160 RMB per person, 400 RMB per person for one-semester trainees, and 800 RMB per person per year for those with more than one academic year.

Iii. Application Process

1. All applicants are requested to log in to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website (cis.chinese.cn) after March 1, 2018, register, fill in the "Confucius Institute Scholarship Application Form" and submit electronic scanned copies of relevant supporting documents.

Supporting documents related to all applicants

A scanned copy of the photo page of the passport.

Scanned copies of HSK and HSKK score reports (valid for two years).

A recommendation letter from the person in charge of the recommending institution.

Supporting documents related to degree students

☆ Provide the highest academic degree certificate (expected graduation certificate) and the academic transcript during school.

For a master's degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, two recommendation letters from supervisors with the title of associate professor or above are required. Those who provide a work agreement with the institution where they plan to teach after graduation will be given priority for funding.

In-service Chinese language teachers must attach a certificate of employment and a recommendation letter issued by their current institution.

Applicants under the age of 18 must submit a power of attorney signed by their guardian in China.

2 The recommending institution reviews and recommends qualified students to our school.

3 Our school reviews the materials and organizes online interviews, and selects the best candidates for pre-admission.

4 The Confucius Institute Headquarters conducts centralized reviews and selects the best candidates for funding. The scholarship review work should be completed two months before enrollment and the review results should be announced.
