The Confucius Institute Scholarship (Guizhou University Program) is a full or partial scholarship provided by the headquarters of Confucius Institute (Confucius Institute Headquarters) to support foreign students, scholars and Chinese language teachers to further their studies in Chinese language and literature at Guizhou University. From 2010 to 2016, Guizhou University has received over 130 Confucius Institute Scholarship students from 27 countries to study at the university.

Scholarship categories and application requirements

        This year, the enrollment categories of our school include one-year research students and one-semester research students. The recruitment targets are non-Chinese nationals who are in good physical and mental health, have no record of bad behavior, and are generally between 16 and 35 years old (the age limit for in-service Chinese language teachers can be relaxed to 45 years old). They must meet the following application requirements and complete the online application. The Office of Chinese Language International Promotion of China offers full scholarships or partial scholarships based on the distribution of applicants' nationalities, the order of application and their proficiency in Chinese.

One-year trainee

       The major of study is Chinese Language and Literature, and the scholarship period is 11 months. This program is designed for Confucius Institute (classroom) students, overseas local Chinese language teachers, Chinese major students, and those with outstanding HSK test scores, especially for students and scholars who are interested in engaging in Chinese translation and Sinology research. This category does not admit international students currently studying in China. Applicants' Chinese proficiency should be no less than 180 points in HSK Level 4 and 60 points in HSKK Intermediate.

One-semester trainee

       The major of study is Chinese Language and Literature, and the scholarship period is five months. Applicants who are students or scholars majoring in Chinese language communication will be given priority for admission. This category does not admit those who have studied in China. Applicants should achieve a score of 210 in HSK Level 3 and have an HSKK score (there is no limit on the HSKK score).

Application and Admission

I. Before May 15, 2017, applicants should log in to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website (http://cis.chinese.cn) to register an individual account, fill in the Confucius institute scholarship Application Form accurately, truthfully and completely, and upload electronic scanned copies of relevant supporting documents. The materials that need to be prepared include

Electronic photo

A scanned copy of the passport photo page;

HSK and HSKK score report. Students who have won the "Confucius Institute Scholarship Certificate" in various "Chinese Bridge" competitions in 2017 only need to provide the "Chinese Bridge" award certificate.

A recommendation letter signed by the person in charge of the recommending institution (evaluating the applicant and indicating whether they are a student of a Confucius Institute or have other identities). Applicants for in-service Chinese language teaching must submit a certificate of employment and a recommendation letter issued by their current institution.

The highest academic degree certificate (students who have not yet graduated can submit a certificate of enrollment issued by their current school)

Scanned copy of personal signature;

Application statement (introducing one's background in learning Chinese, plans and goals for studying in China, etc.)

Please fill in all the information truthfully. Before submitting the application, make sure that the scholarship category you are applying for, the study period you are applying for, the university and the major you are applying for are all filled in correctly.

The uploaded files of electronic photos and scanned copies of personal signatures should be less than 300KB, and other electronic scanned copies should be less than 2M. All file formats must be ";*.jpg/*.gif/*.bmp/*.jpeg";.

After submitting the online application, the applicant should request the corresponding recommending institution (usually the corresponding Confucius Institute) to review the applicant's qualifications and application materials in a timely manner, and recommend the applications that meet the requirements in the scholarship system. Only then can Guizhou University and the Confucius Institute Headquarters further review the relevant applications. To ensure the smooth progress of the subsequent admission process and the timely processing of the admission materials, all recommending institutions are requested to complete the recommendation work in the scholarship system before May 25, 2017.

The subsequent scholarship review process will take approximately more than a month. During this process, applicants can follow the application process, review opinions and scholarship evaluation results within the scholarship system. The final list of scholarship recipients is expected to be determined by the end of June. Subsequently, Guizhou University will send the scholarship admission materials to the recommending institutions or the scholarship recipients themselves in July.
