1. Scholarship content and standards

Since 2012, China University of Petroleum (East China) has established the Outstanding Freshman Scholarship, offering 40 scholarship places each year to foreign students who come to the university at their own expense to pursue master's and doctoral degrees.

Explanation

Scholarship students who choose off-campus accommodation will not be eligible for accommodation subsidies.

2. Open up your major

All master's and doctoral degree programs of China University of Petroleum (East China) are open for application.

3. Applicant Qualifications

(1) Non-Chinese citizens and in good health;

(2) Those who come to China to pursue a master's or doctoral degree must hold a bachelor's or master's degree and be no older than 35/40 years old.

4. Application date

From May 1st to July 1st every year.

5. Application process/Channel

Step 1: login international students admission online application system (https://upc.17gz.org/member/login.do), select "school scholarship" program to apply, fill out the application information, and upload the application materials submitted online.

Step 2: Admitted students wait to receive the "Admission Notice" and the "Application Form for Visa to Study in China for Foreign Students" (JW202 Form). Admitted students are requested to provide their mailing address information to the International Students Admissions Office in advance.

Step 3: Take the "Admission Notice" and the "Application Form for Study Visa to China for Foreign Students" (JW202 Form) to the Chinese embassy or consulate abroad to apply for a study visa to China (X1-Visa), and report to our university within the prescribed time.

Note: After receiving the notice from the school, the scholarship recipient must pay a deposit of 1,000 yuan to the dormitory administrator of the International Education College within the prescribed time. Scholarship rooms for new students will be reserved starting from July each year until the deadline for new student registration. The dormitory administrator will refund the accommodation deposit when the student checks out. The school will not refund the accommodation deposit to new students who give up the scholarship due to various reasons for not being able to register on campus.

4. Research Plan (Chinese/English, at least 1500 words)

5. Two recommendation letters (the recommenders must hold the title of professor or associate professor)

6. Acceptance Letter from the Supervisor of China University of Petroleum (East China) (Chinese/English, no format requirements)

7. Recent work certificate or criminal record clearance certificate (graduated more than 12 months ago)

8. Other certificates or proofs (such as award certificates, scholarship certificates, published articles)

Explanation

The "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners" is not a mandatory document when applying for admission and scholarships. The Chinese embassy or consulate in the host country may require students who have been successfully admitted to hold a "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners" before applying for a study visa to China.
