The education ministries of China and Ethiopia signed an agreement on cooperation in Chinese language education

On June 10th, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Ethiopia held a signing ceremony for the China-Ethiopia Chinese Language Education Cooperation Agreement and a reception for cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. Ambassador Chen Hai of the People's Republic of China to Ethiopia and State Minister of Education of Ethiopia, Jin Diya, signed the "Agreement on Cooperation in Chinese Language Education between the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Education of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia" on behalf of their respective ministries of education.

Ambassador Chen Hai and Minister of State Kindiya delivered speeches successively, fully affirming the rich achievements made in Chinese language teaching in Ethiopia over the years, and expressing their beautiful expectations for the development prospects of Chinese language after being incorporated into the local national education system. Nearly a hundred guests from the fields of education, diplomacy, culture, think tanks and media of the two countries jointly watched a special video on the achievements of Chinese language education in Ethiopia, providing an intuitive understanding of the development process and construction achievements of Chinese language education in the local area.

The signing of this agreement marks the official integration of Chinese language education into Ethiopia's national education system. According to the agreement, China and Ethiopia will deepen cooperation in areas such as Chinese language teaching in pilot middle schools, training and education of local Chinese language teachers, and development of Chinese language teaching resources. They will work together to promote the high-quality development of Chinese language education in Ethiopia, further consolidate the foundation of cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two nations.
